What is CTET Exam? 

CTET or Central Teacher Eligibility Test is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education or CBSE. This exam is conducted twice, every year. This exam is conducted to select the best candidates as teachers for the government school. The selected teachers will be teaching from class 1 to 8. This exam was first introduced in the year 2011. All the teachers who were working in any government schools were ordered to clear the CTET exam within two years span.

The CTET exam will be conducted in two different phases. The paper one is for the elementary school teachers, and they will be teaching from 1st to 5th standards and paper two exam is for the secondary school teachers who will be teaching from 6th to 8th standards. Candidates who are willing to teach from Class 1 to 8 should take both paper 1 and also paper 2. Once a candidate clears the CTET, they can easily apply for any government teacher recruitment notifications. You need not have to take up any other exam.

Eligibility for CTET Exam

For detailed and clear information about the eligibility for the CTET exam, you will have to refer the notification issued. But in general, there are certain requirements that you need to meet and below are some details about it:

Paper 1:

  • You should have passed your senior secondary with at least 50 percent marks or its equivalent, and you should have passed or should be in your final year of the two year Diploma in Elementary Education. (or)
  • You should have passed your senior secondary with at least 45 percent marks or its equivalent, and you should have passed or should be in your final year of the four year of B. El. Ed course. (or)
  • You should have passed your senior secondary with at least 50 percent marks or its equivalent, and you should have passed or should be in your final year of the two year Diploma in Education.

Paper 2:

  • You should have passed your Graduation and you should have passed or should be in your final year of the two year Diploma in Elementary Education.
  • You should have passed your Graduation with at least 50 percent marks or should be in your final year of B. Ed.
  • You should have passed your graduation with at least 50 percent marks and you should have passed or should be in your final year of the four year of B. El. Ed course.
  • You should have passed your graduation with at least 50 percent marks and you should have passed or should be in your final year of the one year of B. Ed course (Special Education).

CTET Exam Syllabus 

CTET is an exam for 150 questions, and you will be given two hours and thirty minutes. Each question carries one mark and the total marks are 150. The syllabus for both paper one and two are different from each other and hence you will have to make it clear about what the syllabus. Age Limit for CTET Exams

Just like any other exam conducted by the recruiting agencies, CTET is also having age limit. The lower age limit is 18 years and the upper limit is 35 years. That means anyone between 18 years to 35 years is eligible for applying for this post. Anyone who is below 18 year of age and above 35 years will not be allowed to take up this exam. There is no reservation or relaxation for the candidates belonging to reserved categories. The age is the same for candidates from all categories.

Fees for CTET Exams

To take up the CTET, you will have to make the exam fee payment after you fill-up the application. The fee is different for general category candidates and reserved candidates. So, here are the fee details for you:

  • For general category and also OBC, if you wish to give only one paper, then the fee is Rs 1,000 and for both the papers it is Rs 1,200.
  • For reserved category, the fee is Rs 500 for one paper and Rs 600 for two papers.

The fee once paid cannot be cancelled or refunded in any circumstances. You will not even be able to use this fee for any further exams. So, you will have to be sure if you really want to take up this exam or not.

The registration process of CTET Exams

The registration process for CTET exam is very simple. You will have to apply it online only. One thing you should remember before you start with the registration process is you need to have your photo and signature ready. Along with that, if you go through the notification for the CTET exam, you will also be able to get an idea about what other documents that you will have to upload on the website for completing the registration process.

  • You should first visit the website of CTET for starting the registration process.
  • You will now find a link for CTET exam and you will have to click on it.
  • You should first register yourself on that website or create login.
  • Now, you will have to fill in all the details that are asked for you in the application.
  • You should now upload all the documents.
  • Your next step is to upload the signature and the photograph.
  • Once you are done with entering the details and uploading the documents, you will have to proceed to fee payment.
  • Once you make the payment, you will be able to successfully submit the application.
  • You can now download the submitted application and save it for further reference.
